Leaders in Zero Emissions

At CAF, our passion for mobility is reflected in our extensive range of products. Through our partner Solaris, we offer a wide variety of conventional and electric buses. Solaris leads the market with its zero-emission vehicles, including electrichydrogentrolleybuses, and hybrid buses. This diverse range of solutions supports sustainable and multimodal mobility, adapting to the urban transport demands of customers.

The most popular zero-emission model from Solaris is the Urbino electric, winner of the Bus of the Year award in 2017, which features advanced technology that allows it to operate continuously up to 24 hours a day.

Zero emissions

Urbino electric

Quiet, emission-free, with a modern design and low operating costs. Innovative technical solutions enable these electric buses to operate for unlimited hours, up to 24 hours a day. Available in low-floor and low-entry variants, their low noise and vibration levels make them particularly suitable for use in urban centres.

Trollino

Trollino is a family of low-floor trolleybuses renowned for being quiet and emission-free. In addition to traditional trolleybuses powered by the electric grid, Solaris offers hybrid options with extra energy storage in supercapacitor batteries. It also includes models with a fuel cell range extender, allowing operation beyond the electric traction line.

Hydrogen

zero-emission urban bus powered by a hydrogen fuel cell with a range of up to 350 km per single charge. It retains all the advantages of electric propulsion, with low noise and vibration levels, and emits only water as a by-product of its operation. Rapid refuelling provides flexibility for public transport operators. Its expressive design, comfortable interior, and eco-friendly propulsion create a modern and unique experience.

Low emissions

Urbino Hybrid

Equipped with a drivetrain that combines an electric motor (or motors) with a conventional unit. This solution allows buses to reduce fuel consumption by an average of 20% to 30% compared with diesel vehicles. Solaris hybrid buses can be adapted to cover completely emission-free distances. In Urbino hybrids, energy can be stored in either batteries or supercapacitors.

Urbino Mild Hybrid

This model meets the need for modern public transport vehicles that aim to reduce environmental impact while also saving money. It employs mild hybrid technology which recovers excess energy generated during the braking of conventional buses. This solution helps reduce pollutant emissions and complies with strict Euro 6 standards for internal combustion engines, making the vehicle more eco-friendly.

Urbino CNG

Low-floor urban buses available in a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) propulsion version, significantly reducing the emission of harmful substances. The Solaris Urbino CNG combines design with reliable and practical technology, ensuring safety and environmental respect. Its distinctive slanted windshield line is not only stylish but also improves the driver's visibility at the curb, increasing passenger safety at each stop.

Metro Style

premium version in the Solaris portfolio. The design of MetroStyle buses reflects the latest public transport trends and can be adapted to all fourth-generation buses and trolleybuses, regardless of length and type of propulsion. MetroStyle allows the same number of seats to be maintained as the standard version, and instead of conventional mirrors, Solaris offers innovative cameras that enhance both driver comfort and safety.

Conventional traction systems

Urbino

Buses that combine design with practical and reliable solutions, prioritising safety and environmental respect. Their distinctive appearance includes a curved windshield that is not only aesthetic but also provides the driver with better visibility of the curb, increasing passenger safety at stops. The buses are equipped with engines that comply with strict Euro 6 regulations.

Urbino Low Entry

These vehicles combine the advantages of high-floor and low-floor buses. With a low floor at the front and centre for easy access, and a high floor at the rear with forward-facing seats, Low Entry buses are versatile and functional, ideal for both city use and suburban and intercity routes. An additional advantage for Urbino Low Entry users is the option to integrate these models with Solaris's low-floor vehicles.

Interurbino

Solaris InterUrbino buses are modern buses designed for intercity transport. Seats with reclining backrests, adjustable armrests, and aesthetic overhead luggage racks provide comfort for passengers even on longer journeys. This model is particularly popular in the Italian market, with over 700 supplied so far.

Special buses

Vehicles designed to offer maximum comfort and safety to passengers. The most popular are airport shuttle buses, based on the Urbino or Urbino LE models. They can have doors on both sides and be equipped according to the airport operator's requirements. These buses are used throughout Europe, including at airports in Barcelona, Bergen, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Oslo, Ostrava, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Riga, Stuttgart, and Warsaw.

The Solaris special bus portfolio includes a mobile film studio bus, a bus adapted for blood donation, and a mobile beauty salon bus.
